Tripura Woman To Participate in UNFPA Program At UN Headquarters

Supriya Das Dutta, the Tripura woman has received a formal invitation to participate in the program organized by the United Nations Population Fund for her contribution on the role of women in local governance in India. 

Mrs Dutta is the 'Sabhadhipati' (elected head) of Sepahijala District Council of Tripura. She will attend the program as part of a three-member Indian delegation along with two women elected representatives from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. 

The program will be organized on May 3 at the United Nations Secretariat Building in the United States. 

It will be jointly organized by the Permanent Mission of India and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Notable that Zilla Parishad is an elected body. They act as the supervising authority of all small elected bodies in the three-tier Panchayat system of the district. 

The theme of the program is Localization of SDGs: Women's Leadership in Local Governance in India. 

The invitation letter has been signed by UNFPA India Representative and Andrea M Wojnar, Country Director, Bhutan.
